  • This lantern slide shows the South End Bridge (Springfield, MA), which connects Agawam to Springfield across the Connecticut River. It was built entirely from iron in 1878 and cost $116,118. The bridge opened for travel on February 1, 1879, replacing the ferry. A duplicate exists (LS-03-46).
