Indianapolis, May 10: Slower, Smarter: Race driver Tom Sneva who has won the pole at Indy the last two years and whoholds the record for a four lap qualifying speed, 202.156 mph, thinks the USAC rule lowering manifold pressure which will reduce qualifying speeds by about 11 mph is a good idea. A survey of 27 drivers showed the average sped to qualify for the 500 mile race will be about 191 mph. AP Laserphoto CAR/51700/str. 1979
