Jan. 14 Floyd + Ruth begain my day with a cheer. Last nite about 9 p.m. Floyd landed in town after a month on the road. He's had many happy experiences to balance in part the disappointmets. WRA cooperation was most encouraging, he stated. It seems Lincoln Kanai, who has served his six months at Dupont still remains there because, like me, he cannot get an army permit to leave this area. And Mrs Ring tells of a T.B. patient who was pronounced fit by the doctors to join her family still remains in this hospital because a permit to leave is not forthcoming. I suppose it's hard to understand these actions unless one thinks in the army style of logic. Anyway, it's beyond me. Esther's visit was cut short by a call to the office where I met Dr + Mrs Ring. However, I was able to meet Bobs as she was about to leave. She handed me another shorthand tablet in addition to this one, which was brought by Mrs. Schmoe. It takes nearly 3 mos. to fill one out- maybe she thinks I'll be here 6 mos.... less
