Escutcheon, showing world (orb marked by lines of longitude and latitude) with a halo of flames, behind stylized waves; helm and mantling, crested with two holly branches. Motto on banner: Ohn' Fleiss Kein Preis. Printed in red, yellow, blue and black. Carl Langenscheidt was an avid collector of ex libris; his collection was sold in 1925. He rose to be director of the family publishing business famous for its dictionaries.
