Robert Moran (1857-1943) was a prominent Seattle citizen who made his fortune through his shipbuilding business, the Moran Brother's company, which prospered during the Klondike Gold Rush. Moran served as mayor of Seattle from 1888 to 1890 and helped rebuild the city after Great Seattle Fire of 1889. Moran owned a large estate in the San Juans on Orcas Island.
