  • In September 1917, King County and Seattle gave a rousing farewell to a second large group of draftees leaving for World War I. Over 700 men marched to King Street Station, where they boarded a special train for Fort Lewis. In this 1917 photo, draftees from Seattle and King County march down Fourth Avenue to King Street Station with suitcases in hand.
