  • Description
  • The Seattle School Board hired architect James Stephen in 1899 to develop plans for the growing city's new schools. His 1908 model plan required fireproof materials and modern lavatory equipment. The original part of Greenwood School, built in 1909, is one of just a few buildings still standing which were based on this model plan. The photo, taken in about 1919, shows Greenwood School and several small outbuildings.
