The dedication at the front of the booklet reads "To the officers and members of the 104 Mountaineers, composing the outing party of 1913, who for a large part of the way made their own trails across the Olympic Mountains, climbed many of the highest peaks, crossed canyons, roaring mountain streams, and traversed deep forests, and finally reached the Pacific Coast without a single serious mishap; and marking an event in the history of the State of Washington, by being the first party ever to cross this wonderful group of mountains in the northwest corner of the United States; also, with special remembrances we would mention L.A.
