Official roll of commissioned officers and enlisted men in the 23rd Maine Infantry during the Civil War. This is one of four volumes of official records of the 23 Maine Infantry owned by the Zadoc Long Free Library in Buckfield, Maine. All three are currently housed at the Maine State Library. The 23rd Maine Infantry was organized in Portland, Maine and mustered in September 29, 1862 for nine months' service. The regiment left Maine for Washington, D.C., October 18. The 23rd Maine Infantry mustered out of service July 15, 1863.
