This pamphlet was produced by Albert Canwell in preparation for his campaign to be re-elected to Washington's State Legislature for District 5. It provides a brief biography of the man and includes commendations from the American Legion, editorial comments, and educator's statements, including one from University of Washington President Raymond Allen. In a statement to the people of the Fifth District, Canwell writes, "In the past few years Communists have worked their way into prominent positions in the fields of education, labor and government in the State of Washington." He continues, "Though our work is far from completed we have uncovered a pattern of underground communist activity which covers the state like a huge spider web. The strands of this web are anchored in labor, education, industry and communications as well as the many branches of municipal, state and federal government." The last page of the pamphlet has quotations from "well-known Communists.". less
