- Description
The two poems are adaptations of the Roman de la Rose. The titles date from the respective first editors ("Il fiore ... pub par F. Castets", 1881; "Detto d'amore", ed. by S. Morgurgo in Il Propugnatore, vol. 21, 1888) Some authorities ascribe the authorship of both poems to the same author who in the Fiore twice names himself ("Durante", "Ser Durante") The identification of Durante with Dante has been found unacceptable by many prominent students of Dante.
