• Description
  • Real estate was the original industry in Columbia city. The town was created by developers after the streetcar line went through in 1890. People were lured from downtown Seattle by easy terms of $300, $10 down and $1 a week without interest. The real estate developers offered the idea of "pioneering" with the convenience of street cars.
