Film of Ivy Planting Ceremony at David Thomson Hall ca. 1952 David Thomson (1871-October 28, 1953) was University President after Henry Suzzallo’s departure for 1926-27 and held various offices thereafter until his retirement. Photographs of Dr. Thomson on the UW Library Special Collections and MOHAI websites clearly identify him as the distinguished gentleman in the convertible with the two ladies. A photograph of the same shovel as filmed is also on the UW Library Special Collections website “Spade used for ivy planting ceremony, University of Washington, November 20, 1952” photography by James O. Snedden of the UW Office of Public Information (negative UW20199z).
