The authorship of this pamphlet has been attributed by Justin Winsor in his Narrative and critical history (vol. v, p. 76, 80) to Richard Berresford, and in his later book, The Mississippi Basin (p. 141 note) to Dr. James Smith. Internal evidence, however, would discriedit either as the author.--cf. Introd. to 1928 reprint ed., p. 8.
The identification of the author is contained in Brown University. John Carter Brown Library. Report, 1935-1936, p. 13-15.
Map has title, "A new map of Louisiana and the River Mississippi."
