    The Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) led a non-violent rally and march on the University of Washington campus protesting the presence of the ROTC and calling for its elimination. The demonstration began at 12:30 p.m. in front of the Husky Union Building (HUB) with several speeches by SDS leaders. Around 2,000 protesters marched across the HUB lawn and through several classroom buildings and past Savery Hall, where the Army ROTC offices were located. At Savery Hall the protesters were met by counter protesters holding signs that said things like "SDS Sucks" and "Gov. Evans Protect Us." SDS protesters did not try to enter the building and continued on to the Administration Building, where 6,000-7,000 people listened as SDS member Mike Justesen called for an immediate end to the ROTC on campus. The Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) staged a forum discussing the issue at Rainier Vista on the same day which attracted approximately 1,500 people. State... less
