1942 Springfield College Basketball Team

A photograph of the 1942 Springfield College basketball team. The team captain, "Chick" Kistner is positioned in the middle of the photograph wearing the number "24" jersey and holding a basketball with the number "42" visible on the front. Led by Captain "Chick" Kistner, the Springfield College basketball team won 14 games and lost only 6. The highlight of the season was the narrow 57-55 loss to Long Island University's (L.I.U.) nationally known quintette in the Maroons' Golden Ball Game. This was also the last season for Coach Ed Hickox, who ended his 16 seasons as head coach with an incredible .711 win percentage (209 wins, 85 losses).
