Clean up of wood debris around edge of Spirit Lake
Created Date | 1982 |
Description | Slide shows trucks carting off wood and material from where they have tried to clean up some of the dead material around Spirit Lake. They took the wood to the saw mill, but there was so much ash embedded in it that it would dull the blades of the saws. Instead of cutting it for lumber, they chipped it up and used it in newsprint since ash is actually beneficial in newsprint. Also, they are burning some of the junk tree material as well. This is part of the clean up operation run by the USGS and the US Forest Service. |
