Volunteer Park, Seattle, ca. 1912
Seattle's Volunteer Park was named in honor of the men who served in the 1898 Spanish American War. The Olmsted Brothers' 1909 plan for the park included lawns, gardens, pavilions, and play areas which were designed to harmonize with the surrounding Capitol Hill neighborhood.
