This letter from Commanding Captain A.B. Bayless of Company C, First Regiment of the National Guard State of Tennessee, endorses the application of Mr. Robert Quarles for the position of Superintendent of the State Armory. The letter goes on to say ""Mr. Quarles acted with much promptness...to equip the milita during the recent Coal Creek mining troubles..."".
