- Description
The Oshkosh baseball club was organized in 1865 by Col. Henry B. Harshaw. Named after the popular principal of Oshkosh High School, Arthur Everett, the "Everetts" represented Oshkosh in amateur club matches until 1872. Baseball's popularity soared in the 1870s as amateur and professional teams formed across the nation. Oshkosh fielded its first professional team in 1887, joining Milwaukee, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, and Des Moines in the Northwestern League. This book, produced by the Oshkosh Base Ball Club in 1913, traces the development of baseball in Oshkosh.
