- Description
Large banner over Lee Street in downtown Greenville, Texas. Text on sign: "Greenville Welcome, The Blackest Land, The Whitest People." Text on reverse: "'Deep in the Heart of Texas.' In the South, the self-constituted 'aristocracy' embraces all whites, excludes all Negroes. This sign over Greenville, Texas, says 'The Blackest Land--The Whitest People.'"
