The original finding aid described this as: Description: Photographic documentation of Shuttle Plume Impingement Flight Experiment (SPIFEX) equipment as seen through the Space Shuttle Discovery's aft flight deck window during STS-64. The SPIFEX was designed to study the characteristics and behavior of exhaust plumes from Discovery's Reaction Control System (RCS) thrusters. Includes views of the SPIFEX equipment alone (002, 006-013); Mission Specialist Susan Helms standing by the window (003-004); and an excessively dark view of MS Helms standing by the window (005).
