Carte de visite of three Union officers on horseback atop Lookout Mountain. Gen. John Haskell King is pictured in the center. Gen. King commanded a brigade of Regulars in Baird's Division, Thomas' Corps at Chickamauga. A rare image of horses photographed; on top of Lookout Mountain. King was born in Michigan in 1820 and was commissioned into the regular army in 1839 serving in Florida and Mexico. He remained in the army until retired due to his age in 1882. He died in 1888 and was buried in Arlington.
