Document related to the Canwell Committee hearings. In his letter Professor Garland Ethel responds to Patricia E. Davis, his former student, about a letter she had written to him regarding his defense at the University of Washington’s Faulty Tenure Committee. Ethel states he “had copies of [her] letter made to introduce as evidence before the Faculty Tenure Committee” as well as whether “the notes which you took in my class typed out or are they in shorthand or longhand… would you be willing to permit them to be filed with the Tenure Committee for inspection---to be returned later?” Ethel explains what he has been charged with and concludes with his thanks saying “please pay me a visit whenever you can. It will be a great pleasure to see someone who thinks I have done him some small good.”. less
