Letter from William Amherst, younger brother of Jeffery Amherst, to Mrs. Jane Dalison Amherst, the first wife of Jeffery Amherst. In the letter, William discusses his brother's appointment as General Commander in Chief of British troops in North America. He mentions that Mrs. Amherst is afraid of water and therefore reluctant to travel to join her husband in North America.
