A composition doll with moveable arms, legs, and head by ball and joint. The hair is molded, the face has painted eyes with eyelashes and lips. She is dressed in a red plaid shirt and white underwear. The dress bodice is dark blue and has the same blue trim on apron. She is also wearing long knit stocking, wooden shoes, and traditional Dutch girl's cap. She is complete with the original box. This doll is part of the "Patsy" collection which was advertised as "The Personality Doll, The Miss of a Million Moods, Every Pose a Picture." EffanBee helped to stabilize the U.S. doll industry by creating this "wardrobe doll" that encouraged the sale of doll clothes throughout the year. It also introduced the fan club to the the industry which is a tactic still used by many toy companies today such as Mattel. European doll manufacturers copied the "Patsies" which demonstrates their effect on the world market. In addition, America's new found success within the doll market represents their overall strength as an economic and commercial power.
