  • Bob Ackley, Jim Ackley's father, opened Bob's Quality Meats in West Seattle in the 1970s. In 1981, the shop moved to 4861 Rainier Avenue in Columbia City. Jim Ackley took over the business in 1999.This building, built in 1892, is one of the oldest still standing in Columbia City, and it has been a butcher shop since at least 1909, when Mr. Nelson opened Nelson's Meat Market there.
