    The original finding aid described this photograph as: [Complete] Scene Caption: Command Chief Master Sergeant David Dunlap reads the citation to accompany the Bronze Star Award to World War II veteran and former Army Air Corps Lieutenant Richard Hank Sciaroni. Standing with Sciaroni are Major General Paul D. Monroe, the Adjutant General and Commander of the California National Guard, and United States Representative Anna G. Esho, of the 14th Congressional District, California, Rep. Eshoo was instrumental in the effort to award Lt. Sciaroni the Bronze Star for his actions during the war. Lt. Sciaronis was a navigator on a B-24 that was shot down over Germany, he lead three of his fellow air crew member to safety after more than two weeks behind enemy lines. Lt. Sciaroni was never awarded the medal because of interruptions in his chain of command and deaths of senior officers involved. The Representative, in a ceremony at the 129th Rescue Wing, Moffett Federal Airfield, California presented Lt.
