At the July All-Star break in 1934, Mack took his Athletics team to his birthplace of North Brookfield, Mass. for an exhibition game against a local semi-pro team. Cohan wrote a song about Mack and a large ceremony was held (Society for American Baseball Research, 2010-2011).
