The USMP-4 allows for investigation into the effects of microgravity on materials science, combustion science, and fundamental physics. The various experiments visible are AADSF (Advanced Automated Directional Solidification Furnace), IDGE (Isothermal Dendritic Growth Experiment), MEPHISTO (Materials for the Study of Interesting Phenomena of Solidification on Earth and in Orbit), and CHeX (Confined Helium Experiment). Frame 020 has only IDGE and avionics in view. View STS087-752-023 was selected by PAO for release to the public.
