Textile (wool washing?) machinery in Richardson's Wool Washeries and Carbonising Works, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Gelatin silver print, [1910-30]. Image depicts an interior view of Richardson's Wool Washeries and Carbonising Works in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The machinery is possibly wool washing machinery. Two men stand in the center background, one in a three-piece suit and one in a long white apron and cap, possibly supervisors? A few workers can be glimpsed in the distant background. 36.5 x 28.25 cm. (w/out mount); 54.25 x 44.25 cm. (w/mount). (OCLC). There was a Richardson's Wool Washeries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, as early as 1921. In 1944 a Richardson's Wool Washeries Ltd. was established in Port Elizabeth. Note the British spelling of carbonising in 0000.1721.9, rather than the American version (carbonizing). No trace of a Richardson's Wool Washeries could be found in the United States.
