Lieutenant Commander Curt Walther, a SH-60 Seahawk helicopter pilot, points to some areas of operation on a map during a mass familiarization mission brief with other members of the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron, North Island, California. The mission will include a search for Scud missile sites in the Alamogordo Bombing Range. The helicopter squadron is participating in ROVING SANDS '97 exercise as part of the Red force. ROVING SANDS is a multinational effort and is the largest military exercise on United States soil that allows training in a joint environment to hone command and control procedures and integrate new systems in Theater and Air Missile Defense.
