    In this press release to the University of Washington Daily and the Seattle Times, dated July 7, 1948, Professor Ralph Gundlach states his intention to appear before the Canwell Committee and voices his objections to the Committee’s investigation of subversive activities among University of Washington professors. He writes, “It is my opinion that the Canwell Committee is not interested in finding subversive activity. In using this phrase as a disguise its aim is to fire a shotgun blast at the liberal and progressive teachers and artists.
