Vessel carved of volcanic stone. 87 x 47 x 37 inches (The bowl on the back of the figure measures 24.5 inches in diameter and 10.25 inches in depth. This stone vessel from Tenochtitlan was used for blood sacrifices. On the back of the jaguar is the sacred quauhxicalli (eagle's bowl) in which were placed the blood and hearts of the victims of human sacrifice.
