Territory University-, you were pleased to say that when I should feel inclined to return to the University at Salem, I could find a situation ready for me. We have always thought that we might return to Salem to make that our home and felt when we came here, that it was to serve our present convenience and necessity-rather than become a permanent location. This position is altogether too much of a political football-subject to a fresh kick by each recurring Legislature - to allow of any feeling of permanence. The Board of Regents undergoes a change of there numbers annually; and they are, as a general thing, elected by the Legislature without any reference to fitness for the office. Education throughout the Sound District is in an extremely backward condition-as an illustration; not one of the misses attending... less
