A sepia toned photograph of Julia Ward Howe, author of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." She is wearing a pleated blouse with a pin at the neck. Her hair is in a braided bun. Dimensions: 4.25"x6.5". Julia Ward Howe wrote the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" after a tour of Army camps in the Washington, D.C. area. Published in 1862, the poem was set to the tune of "John Brown’s Body.
