On May 23, 2001, President George W. Bush spoke to and hosted a re-enlistment ceremony for one hundred US service members from all five armed services in the White House East Room. President Bush pledged support to the troops stating "I have promisednever to take you for granted. As long as I live under this roof, our country and our military will be prepared to meet any challenge the future many bring." Accompanying the president are Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, and General Henry H. Shelton, USA, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of STAFF, who administered the oath of enlistment to the service members
