In 1933 when the local first established a relationship with the A.F. of L. the Federation claimed to have changed. On April 12, 1938, the members of CWFLU voted to transition their affiliation from the American Federation of Labor to the Congress of Industrial Organizations. The men of the union voted for this change of affiliation unanimously. The United Cannery, Agricultural, Packinghouse and Allied Workers of America-CIO (UCAPAWA) was formed and the A.
