  • Clay pot, late Classical Maya Period, false champleve decoration. Height, 16.3 cm. This pot is from Mexico, Tikul Yucatan. It depicts a person sitting cross-legged, with feather headdress, body full face and head in profile. To create the decoration the surface of the pot was scraped down (using a spatula, pointed tool of bone or piece of flint) so that the decoration stands out in bas-relief.
