    The newsletter discusses the recent Mountain Rescue Association Convention in Seattle, upcoming meetings and training exercises and mentions a recent accident on Mount Baker which killed four climbers from Vancouver, B.C. According to the newsletter, "The facts are not at all clear, but word is that they fell off the ridge above the saddle of Black Buttes and perished. Can't recall anything that would do in a party of four in this area--maybe hypothermia had an effect, huh? Tacoma had a party of five on this operation--Haneline, Hutt, Kloster, Johnas and Griesel (Bob, not Beth). They joined teams from Seattle, Olympic and Everett on the south side of the mountain, as for some time, the location of the missing climbers was in doubt and it was though they may have come down the Easton Glacier in the white-out that evidently hit the summit on Sunday.". less
