The author explains the meaning of ""Nangsu Khumsak"" which is an identification document issued in the past for lay people who did not have their arm tattooed. Under the feudal system, it was mandatory for men to work for the state. The tattoo under arm was used as one's idenfication, indicating which government sector he was working for.
