Dennis served as the Outing Chairman for the Spokane Mountaineers. He wrote to address some of the issues that their group encountered on a visit to Mount Rainier and enclosed the copy of a longer letter of complaint addressed to O.A. Tomlinson, the Superintendent of Mount Rainier National Park. Among the concerns raised by Dennis was "the personnel of Mt. Rainier park taking the attitude that they own the park and that the public is a damn nusiance, to be admitted only as a grudging favor." Dennis continues, "There was no excuse for our party being detained overnight as our letter mentions, not for the girl in the later party being refused permission to climb, for example." Dennis also mentions possibly joining with the Mountaineers in Seattle to protest the one dollar climbing fee charged to go up the mountain. less
