This improved the smoothness of the ride but as these cars aged some of them tended to shimmy and wander badly. The principle of independent front-wheel suspension was later improved. Other new features included: the “Ride Stabilizer”, a rear sway bar which prevented body roll; vacuum-power mechanical brakes which required half as much pedal pressure; automatic choke; “center point” steering control; and 16 inch “Air Cushion” tires.
