This untitled illustration by cartoonist Clifford Berryman, which appeared in the Washington Post on November 9, 1904, shows President Theodore Roosevelt and his Vice President Charles W. Fairbanks high stepping in a victory parade with the teddy bear marching alongside carrying a flag that states, "Four More Years of Theodore.". President Theodore Roosevelt and his running mate, Indiana Senator Charles W. Fairbanks overwhelmed their Democratic opponents in the 1904 Presidential election. Roosevelt had become President after the assignation of President McKinley in September 1901, and he was a strong character and powerful vote-getter. Cartoonist Clifford Berryman shows Roosevelt and Fairbanks in top hats and formal wear, high stepping in a victory parade along with Berryman's familiar teddy bear who high steps on short stilts and carries a flag emblazoned, "Four Years More of Theodore!". less
