    The Brotherhood of Teaching Assistant's (BTA) Local No. 1 coordinated an informational picket line of philosophy teaching assistants in front of Parrington Hall at the University of Washington. The demands of the unionized teaching assistants included the immediate institution of a grievance committee, advisory participation by graduate students in hiring, firing, and promotion decisions, and open faculty meetings. The BTA signed up 18 of the 20 teaching assistants in the department and began working to liaison with other departments.
