The Digital Public Library of America is partnering with Pop Up Archive to offer discounted services to the DPLA network. DPLA Hubs and their partners will be able to take advantage of this discounted rate to make it possible for anyone to search and pinpoint exact search terms and phrases within audiovisual collections.

DPLA is an active participant in the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) community, and several DPLA Hubs, including Digital Commonwealth, Harvard University, California Digital Library, and Internet Archive have adopted IIIF-compliant services.

The extended DPLA community is warmly invited to a one day event in Ghent, Belgium, hosted by the International Image Interoperability Framework community (http://iiif.io/) and Ghent University Library (http://lib.ugent.be/), describing the power and potential of interoperable image delivery over the Web.

Thanks to the excellent work of DPLA Community Rep Shaun Akhtar (thanks, Shaun!), Firefox and Internet Explorer users can make use of a new OpenSearch plugin that will add the DPLA as one of your browser’s known search providers. Firefox users may also install it directly through the Mozilla Add-ons site. This is valuable because it gets you to DPLA content faster and more often.

New Primary Source Sets for Education

Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) is very pleased to announce the release of its first group of Primary Source Sets about topics in US history, literature, and culture. These sets were developed and reviewed by a new Education Advisory Committee for use by students and teachers in grades 6-12 and higher education. Each set includes an overview, ten to fifteen primary sources, links to additional resources, and a teaching guide. This project was generously funded by the Whiting Foundation.
