Stewards of the Parks

A park ranger assists with surgery on a bird at Kings Mountain National Military Park, South Carolina, 1984.

The everyday management and conservation of the parks happens at different levels. Interpretive rangers help to make sure that visitors are informed and educated about the parks and its rules while hopefully creating a personal connection and experience; law enforcement rangers make sure that order and safety is maintained in the park. From the Superintendent to the volunteer, every individual that works in the parks makes it possible for all who to come to enjoy their visit while assuring that the environment remains relatively untouched, preserved, and protected for future generations.
