CROWD AFTER GAME AT BRAVES FIELD, ca. 1935. Leslie Jones Collection, BPL Print Department.

Braves Field opened to much optimism and fanfare, with the Boston Globe declaring, “There is not another like it anywhere.”

Opened in 1915, Braves Field was designed by the same firm that had built Fenway Park three years earlier. Constructed on the site of a former golf course in Allston, Massachusetts, the stadium was the largest baseball park built at that time, with a capacity of more than 46,000 fans.
