AERIAL VIEW OF BRAVES FIELD, 1933. Leslie Jones Collection, BPL Print Department.

The enormous new ballpark was built on the banks of the Charles River in Allston next to the Boston & Albany train yards.

Opened in 1915, Braves Field was designed by the same firm that had built Fenway Park three years earlier. Constructed on the site of a former golf course in Allston, Massachusetts, the stadium was the largest baseball park built at that time, with a capacity of more than 46,000 fans.
